Premium entertainment is expected when a media mogul gets hitched to the daughter of a former governor. KDLagos2021 didn’t disappoint.
In fact, it would make a blockbuster if it was adapted into a movie.
KDLagos2021 is the official hashtag for Adebola Williams and Kehinde Daniel’s wedding, just in case you are wondering what it means. An official Instagram account with the same name was also created for the event.
Beautifully planned by Zapphaire Events; it went down on 7th August, 2021 at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos. Key players in Nigeria’s entertainment scene, notable politicians and dignitaries all graced the occasion with their appearance.
We have outlined some of the interesting facts that tickled our fancy about the lavish affair below:
KDLagos2021 Is Celebration Part 2:
If the entire KDLagos2021 event was a movie, the white wedding and engagement would be part 2. Part 1 would be the intimate civil wedding ceremony the couple held earlier this year.
They first got married in a private ceremony at EbonyLife Place which was also planned by Zapphaire Events (See pictures below).
Due to the Covid19 pandemic, the guest attendance for the civil wedding was kept to the barest minimum. This most likely explains the huge turnout for their white and traditional wedding.
The Groom’s Tuxedo:
Adebola Williams (also known as Debola Lagos), who is the co-founder of Red Media Africa is known for his contemporary African sense of style. He is known for his signature red cap, which he also wore at their civil wedding ceremony.
He brought his signature sense of style to his wedding by choosing to wear a tuxedo made with asooke. Aso oke is a woven fabric predominantly created by the Yorubas. In the past, aso oke depicted wealth and high status. In recent times, it is still worn for the same reasons, as well as for its color and for cultural identity.
Debola choosing to wear asooke to his own wedding holds a deep cultural meaning which we love. The tuxedo was designed by Mai Atafo, a prominent Nigerian fashion designer.
Female Groomsmen:
Nothing is more beautiful than seeing real-life proof of gender equality. KDLagos2021 proved to us that gender is no barrier in friendship. Debola Lagos has not one but two females on his groomsmen list.
Multiple award winning actress, Kemi Lala Akindoju was one of his groomsmen. His other female groomsman was the award wining entrepreneur and author, Mfon Ekpo. Both ladies brought style and swag to the scene as they looked dapper in their tuxedoes.
Sensational Music:
Popular Nigerian singers, Waje and Timi Dakolo had the guests at KDLagos2021 covered in goosebumps. Both talented singers serenaded the guests with their solo musical performances at the wedding. It was pure bliss listening to the singers who are both known for their singular vocal talents.
Dignitaries Here & There:
It is no surprise that notable politicians from all over the country were present at the occasion. The bride’s father, Otunba Gbenga Daniel was the former governor of Ogun State.
The Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo; Former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife were all reported to be in attendance at the wedding.
KDLagos2021 was truly a success in every sense of the word. We wish Mr. & Mrs. Adebola Williams a blessed union.
